| Gowda means head of any caste and is a title used by various social groups in the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. This is a title usually given to eldest person or leader in the community. The wedding celebrations include many special rituals for the Gouda grooms. The ritual of 'Uguru Madichuva Shastra' is a nail cutting ceremony of a Gouda groom.
