Thevars are residents of the southern and central districts of Tamil Nadu. A small number of Thevar brides can also be seen in Chhattisgarh where they migrated during British rule. The wedding ceremony in Thevar community is known as Thalikettu, when the Thevar bride is decorated with jewellery and traditional sari. The decorated bride sits to the right of the groom, who ties the thali around her neck. The Thevar brides are welcomed in their in laws house amidst the sacred sound of Nadaswaram.
