Smarta community is the follower of Vedas and Shastras, and is the residents of Southern India. The Smarta brides follow a system during the wedding rituals, which is Srauta-Smartha as evidenced in the sankalpams, which is taken during offering Puja. As per the Vedic preaching, the Smartas have to follow the Brahma form of Vedic wedding, which refers to arranged marriages, and follow the Vedic preaching. After the wedding, the Smarta bride acquires the traditions of her husband's family.
