Sikh weddings are known as Anand Karaj which means 'Blissful union' that takes place in a Gurudwara in the day time. Sikh marry within their religion and do not believe in taking dowry. Sikh weddings are followed by reception party where all the guests enjoy and are served sumptuous food, music and entertainment. The weddings are lavish and flamboyant where the Sikh groom is dressed in heavy work Indian attire usually a Sherwani or formal suit along with garland made of cash and a turban.
