Rajputs are an important community in North India though they are spread across the country. Rajput teachers are found in Rajasthan, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Marriage is an important occasion for Rajputs as for other communities in India. Some of the rituals are Tilak, Ban, Mel, Nikasi, Sehla, and Sat Phere among others. Mehfils are held separately for men and women where group dance called Ghoomar is performed.
