The Punjabi Khatri community has its origins from the Potohar, Majha and Taxila districts of the Punjab. These areas are said to be historically linked with the formation of the Vedas, Ramayana, and the Mahabharata as well as with more modern religious scriptures like Guru Granth Sahib. Sodhi, Bedi, Trehan are few of the surnames of Punjabi Khatri people.
