Muslim Kanpur is a minority group that makes up for more than 15% population of the city. It comprises those who adhere to Islamic practices and are settled in the largest state of Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur. They are found mainly near Kanpur Central Station, Idgah colony, Parade and Bekanganj. Kanpur has been known as the 'Manchester of India' in the 20th century and is now a 'Town of Export excellence'. Muslim marriage is called 'Nikaah' and is observed in the presence of at least two witnesses.
