Mukkulathors are residents of southern and central districts of Tamil Nadu. A small number of Mukkulathor brides can also be seen in Chattisgarh where they migrated during British rule. The wedding ceremony in Mukkulathor community is known as Thalikettu, when the bride is decorated with jewellery & traditional sari. The decorated bride sits to the right of the groom, who ties thali around her neck. The Mukkulathor brides are welcomed in their new family amidst the sacred sound of Nadaswaram.
