Vaish, one of the four varnas of Hinduism, is the community of money lenders, land owners and traders. Some of the castes under Vaish are that of Agarwals, Khandelwals, Varshneys, Mathurs, Rastogis, Aroras, Lohanas, Oswals, Maheshwaris, Ambanis, Sarabhais and many others. They are believed to be the ‚dvijas‚„ i.e. twice born according to the classical theory. Mathur Vaishya and Punjabi Vaishya are among the many sub castes of Vaishyas. Vaish matrimonial allows marriage with the community only.
