Somvanshi, one of the three Kshatriya Vanshis are also known as Chandravanshi Kshatriyas. Other two Vanshis are Agnivanshi and Suryavanshi. Somvanshi Kshatriyas are the descendants of Moon and belong to lunar dynasty (Chandra Vansha). This community is today based largely in the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and Uttaranchal. Being a part of the Kshatriya Varna in Hindu society, it is a community of warriors. They are usually involved in agriculture, defense and other services.
