Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are Indian population groupings that are, explicitly recognized by the Constitution of India. These sections were previously called the "depressed classes" by the British, and were known as untouchables. Some SC's in India are also called as Dalits and some ST people are also referred to as Adivasis. The ratio of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the India has been rising since independence. They also have many reservation privileges in the country.
