Sadgope is a Bengali Hindu caste, known by different names in different parts of the country. For instance- they are called Dhangar in Maharashtra, Ahirs in north India, Idayan and Konar in Tamil Nadu, Yadava and Kurubas in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, etc. Sadgope is largely the community of landlords. Along with other allied castes, they account for nearly one-tenth population of the country and use Bangla as mother tongue.
Sadgope matrimonial is endogamous and they practice gotra exogamy.
