Mudaliar Arcot, a sub caste of Vellalars is also known as Thuluva Vellalar or Tuluva or Tulumar. They are believed to be the immigrants from Tulunad in South Canara in Karnataka. Arcot Mudaliar is a prominent caste in Mudaliars of the states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. They can be found in Vellore, Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts of Thondaimandalam regions of Tamil Nadu in large numbers. People belonging to Mudaliar Arcot community speak Tamil and Kannada as their primary language.
