The community of Maheshwaris has originated from the state of Rajasthan in western India and is now found throughout north India. It is a sub group of Marwaris and a business community of Vaishnavaas. The people belonging to this community follow Lord Shiva, in fact, the term Maheshwari is derived from the word ‚Mahesh‚„ which is another name for the God. This community is divided into Hindus (Meswari) and Jains (Shravaks) and further classified in six sections- Didu, Paukar, Dhakad, Patwa, etc.
