Devangas have originated from northern Karnataka and are also referred to as ‚Deva Brahmins‚„ and ‚Prakrut Brahmins‚„. They are largely settled in southern India and in some parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra as well.
Devanga matrimonial is based on endogamy i.e. they marry within their community. Their weddings are similar to Hindu marriages and are usually arranged by parents. They consult Sangas for the list of prospective grooms and brides, match horoscopes and finalize the wedding date.
