Marathi Thane group usually comprises the residents of Maharashtra living in the city of Thane. They speak in Marathi and believe in Hinduism but there are minorities of Christians, Muslims and Buddhists as well. Marathi Hindus worship forms of Lord Krishna, Shiva, Parvati and Ganesha as well as Bhakti saints of all castes. Most of the Marathi Christians are Catholics though there are Protestants as well. The majority of Marathi Muslims are Sufis; Marathi Buddhists follow Babasaheb Ambedkar.
