Sunni is Arabic word which means “usual practice”. Sunni Muslims are a dominant caste and are orthodox Muslims in Maharashtra region and are bilinguals. Within their community they speak Urdu but with other communities they communicate in Marathi which is the regional language of Maharashtra state. Marathi is an indo-Aryan language spoken by the people of Maharashtra. Sunni Muslims in maharashtra mainly follow Sufi traditions and celebrate Id-ul-Fitr and Id-ul-Adha as their main festivals.
