Marathas are members of a Hindu caste who belong to one of the ruling warrior classes thus classified under Kshatriya Varna of Hinduism. Hindu Maratha IAS is formed by those people who possess all three attributes- follow Hinduism, are Marathas by caste, language or other virtues and are engaged in Indian civil services. They usually reside in the states of Karnataka, Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, MP and Andhra Pradesh. Most Marathas belong to one of the '90 Kuli Marathas' i.e. 96 different clans.
