Koli is derived from the Sanskrit word 'kula' which means clan. The Koli community is settled in the coastal region of Maharashtra and in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Most of the Koli community is Hindus though some also follow Christianity. Wedding rituals for Koli Grooms depends on the region of birth and the religion.
