Knanaya community is the largest forward caste community of Kerala. The Knanaya grooms and brides are endogamous, who do not intermarry with other Christian castes such as Latins or Anglo-Indians. Intermarriages between Knanaya grooms and Latin Rite Christian brides are permitted in Kerala. The Knanaya groom ties thali around her bride's neck, and drapes a white cloth over her head. The Knanaya grooms wear traditional suit for his wedding, and the wedding is accomplished in a Christian Church.
