Marriage in Kayastha is fixed on an auspicious date and celebrations begin with various pre-wedding rituals like engagement Haldi, Tilak, Mehandi and Bhaat. After baraat is welcomed on the wedding day, ceremonies of Jaimala, 'Baahar-ke-Phere', Saat Phere, Kanyadaan and Bidaai are also performed. 'Muh-Dikhai' and 'Satyanarayan Katha' are among the post wedding rituals.
