Kayastha is a Hindu community that reveres Maharaj Chitragupta as their ancestor. The unique feature of the caste is the fact that they belong to two varnas of Hinduism- Brahmin and Kshatriya. Hindu Kayastha Defence community is formed by those people who are Kayasthas by caste and into defence services by profession.

The group of Hindu Kayastha Defence prefers marriages within their community but since they are not very conservative, weddings are arranged with those from other castes as well.
