The Kashyap community is a progressive community in Bengal and accepts and adopts new things and systems towards the benefit for the society. The Kashyap grooms are the Bengali Kulin Brahmins who do no prefer wedding within the same gotra, under the rule of exogamy in the traditional matrimonial system. The wedding is arranged in the same community, and they do not promote inter-caste weddings. A Kashyap groom wears traditional dhoti kurta and a headgear known as Topor for his wedding.
