Karana are the upper class community who are based in Orissa. This is an intellect community, which is entrusted to do the writing work. Main professions of people of Karana Community are teaching, administration work, accountancy, and similar works. The rituals and customs of Karana matrimony are similar to Brahmins and Kayasthas in North India. People involved in Karana matrimony are quite broad-minded, who otherwise prefer same caste wedding, but are not orthodox about inter caste marriages.
