Kamma is a social group and falls under the Shudra divison of the Hindu Varna system. The members were earlier engaged in agriculture but are diversified into varied professions. Most of them reside in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamilnadu. Members, Hindus or Christians, follow respective wedding rituals. The Kamma brides may have surnames with Nayakudu, Rao Reddy and Naicker. A Kamma bride wears traditional wedding attire of the region, either a sari or gown, depending on the religion
