Nagpur is named after its people who belonged to Nag Dynasty and were followers of Buddha. The city houses Deekshabhoomi which is both the largest hollow stupa and a major center for Dalit Buddhist Movement. Buddhist Nagpur is considered to be the group of adherents of Buddhism living in Nagpur.
Inter- caste marriages happen in Hindu Nagpur community but are still less in number. With numerous pre-wedding and wedding rituals being observed, marriage celebrations exhibit firm belief in traditions.
