Hindu Rajputs enjoy the reputation of soldiers and follow the practice of jauhar and saka after their fight was over. But if Hindus fought against Hindus, there was neither jauhar nor saka because those defeated were treated with respect.
Hindi UP Rajputs belong to bhaal gotra of Agnivanshi clan and are usually called Chauhans. Based on patri-lineage, 36 main clans are subdivided into branches with individual genealogical creed that provides all information governing the laws of intermarriage.
