Himachali Thakur
Matrimonial
Thakur is an Indian feudal title of respect in several Indian languages that comes from the Sanskrit thakkura, meaning 'idol' or 'deity'. A Thakurani is the wife of a Thakur. Hindu Thakurs have held predominant economic and political power since the conquest of the region by their ancestors.
Himachali Hindu Thakurs have assumed the religious views of Hindu philosophy. Their dancing songs in marriages and other ceremonies offer prayers to Shankar, Parvati and other deities of the Hindu pantheon.
