Hindu Bania is the community of occupational bankers, moneylenders and merchants found mainly in northern and western India. In religious terms, they are generally Vaishnavas (worshippers of the Hindu god Vishnu) or Jainas. Haryanvi Hindu Banias usually tend to be strict vegetarians, teetotalers and orthodox in observing ceremonial purity.
Like in other Indian weddings, marriages in Hindu Banias are marked by huge celebrations. They believe in matching horoscopes before finalizing a wedding.
