The Garhwali community belongs to the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state. The Garhwalis belong to the Pahari subgroup of Indo-Aryans. The Garhwali brides wear very big nath for their wedding, which is presented to them by the elders of the family in a ceremony known as Nath Ceremony. A Garhwali bride bids her family and enters her new family in a Doli or Palki. Most of the Garhwali brides are well educated and are family-oriented who respect the family values.
