Brahmin Deshasthas are the sub- caste of Brahmin Hindus living in Maharashtra. They belong to the group called Pancha Dravid Brahmins. Marathi is the major language spoken by the people there and most of the Deshastha Brahmins are vegetarians. Matrimonies of the Deshastha Brahmins are conducted in their respective caste and the rituals are primarily according to the Hindus. They look for brides and grooms nurtured with high class mannerism and societal values by their parents and grandparents.
